Diabetic Foot Infection

In this clinical research project we are working with infectious disease specialists, podiatrists, musculoskeletal radiologists, and epidemiologists to define effective and efficient imaging workflows and imaging agents for diagnosis and prognosis of diabetic foot infections. Shown below is a series of images from a SPECT/CT of a patient’s foot using radiolabeled white blood cells. The images show tubular activity in a partially calcified vessel and a collection of radiolabeled cells contacting the bone in the patient’s great toe.
