Raegan Adams
Graduate Student: Genetics, Development and Disease
Hometown: Clay, Alabama
Education: B.S. in Biology, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
In the lab: I am working to better understand a rare pediatric disorder called SLC13A5 Epilepsy.
Outside the lab: In my free time, I love reading, going on walks and hikes outside, and attending concerts with friends.
Karina Alvarado
Research Technician I

Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Education: Junior at The University of Texas at Dallas
In Lab: My project in the lab involves utilizing cell culture models to determine disease mechanisms of ECHS1 Deficiency.
Outside Lab: I enjoy spending as much time as I can outdoors swimming, hiking, and listening to music with friends.
Meghan Eller
Graduate Student: Neuroscience
Home state: Pennsylvania
Education: Bachelor of Science in biology and neuroscience, Wilkes University
Bachelor of Arts in psychology, Wilkes University.
In the lab: My research in the Bailey Lab focuses on developing AAV-mediated gene therapy for the rare pediatric disorder ECHS1 deficiency.
Outside the lab: I enjoy painting, spending time outside, and cuddling with my cat, Finch.
Irvin Garza
OBI NSTP Graduate Fellow: Genetics, Development, and Disease and Mechanisms of Disease and Translational Science
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Education: Bachelor's of Science in Biology, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas
In the lab: My research is developing and engineering novel AAV capsids to improve the delivery of gene therapies to the central nervous system, and to understand the biochemical and biophysical properties that contribute to the basic biology of AAVs. My other interests lie in understanding the molecular factors that play a role in viral and host interactions from a developmental and aging standpoint and exploring novel methods of delivery for AAV gene therapy.
Outside the lab: I enjoy playing video games, spending time with my pets, working out, playing soccer, music production, trying new restaurants, and going to electronic music shows.
Krishanna Knight
Research Technician II
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Education: Associate’s degree in veterinary technology, Cedar Valley College, in progress.
In the lab: Laboratory animal technician.
Out of the lab: I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, having family get-togethers, traveling, and having fun!
Nicholas Slimmon
Graduate Student
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Education: B.A. in Biology & Chinese, Washington University in St. Louis.
In the lab: Research on focused ultrasound enhancement of AAV-mediated tau reduction.
Outside the lab: I enjoy running, bird watching, and spending time with friends.
Brina Snyder
Postdoctoral Researcher
Hometown: Montezuma Creek, Utah
Education: PhD in Biomedical Sciences, UNT Health Science Center, Ft. Worth, TX
In Lab: Investigating the association between tau and social recognition. Developing AAV-mediated gene therapy for tauopathies and improving delivery to the central nervous system.
Outside Lab: I enjoy outdoor activities, travel, riding motorcycles, and I try to keep plants alive in my yard.
